Chinese pistache (pistacia chinensis) is a small to medium-sized tree, native to central and western China. It is widely used as an ornamental shade tree but not typically available as lumber. This table was made from 2 slabs from a tree salvaged by Arborica. The legs and tapered braces are cherry, finished with polyurethane, while the owners chose to have the top finished with multiple coats of boiled linseed oil. They have taken on the challenge of re-oiling the top themselves on a regular basis, looking for the patina and soft finish that will result from years of regular cleaning and re-oiling.
