Maple and fir table, 2022 Vertical grain Douglas fir and live-edge big leaf maple plank, 48 x 20 x 16h

I kept this big leaf maple plank for several years, waiting for a use. It was the perfect length for a 4 ft long folded low table, but a bit too narrow, and too irregular, for use as an occasional dining table. That led to the idea of “marrying” the vertical grain fir lumber to one of the edges of the maple plank. The fir pieces at the bottom of the ends are removable, to provide a top surface higher or lower by 1 1/2 inches.
